2022 marked 100 years since James Joyce published Ulysses. To celebrate, my class in NCAD were put into pairs to create Lino-print illustrations for a certain chapter. My partner and I were tasked to create an illustration for Chapter 4, Calypso.
I developed up a digital composition of the illustration to create a guide and we later cut and printed the piece using Lino. Our piece was displayed at an exhibition in the National Print Museum in Dublin.
We also had to create a frontispiece illustration for the collection. I decided to create an image of different buildings in Dublin that are mentioned in the book. There is a Lino tool cutting and weaving through the image as well.
